In a big development in Tamil Nadu politics ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections in the 

state, expelled AIADMK leader VK Sasikala — a close aide of Late and former Tamil Nadu Chief 

Minister Jayalalithaa — on Wednesday announced that she is quitting public life. Sasikala has 

asked ADMK cadres to stand united and ensure good things to happen in forthcoming elections. 

Announcing retirement from public life, VK Sasikala said she "will stay away from politics... to 

pray for golden rule of late Jayalalithaa," PTI reported. Sasikala asked all true supporters of 

Jayalalithaa to prevent "common enemy" DMK from coming to power in the assembly polls and 

ensure "Amma's golden rule in Tamil Nadu.
